The stone is also referred as heliolite and is transparent feldspar and is found in variety of color varying from water clear to pale yellow, to soft pink to blood red to deep blue to green. The variation in colors happens due to presence of copper found in this stone. Its hardness on Mohs scale varies from 6.5 to 7.2. Oregon is extracted from surface of decomposed rock with pick and showel. At first instance this stone seems to a transparent stone but when accessed in right direction you will notice red metallic shimmer crossing across the stone. This process is known as schiller or aventure scence and is due to suspension of subtle parallel metallic platelets found in the stone.
